Plastic (or Polyethylene) and Fiberglass Tanks
Plastic (Poly) tanks are popular for smaller residential applications (usually under 5,000 gallons) and are affordable, lightweight, and available in many colors. However, plastic and fiberglass tanks are also used regularly for commercial and industrial use.
- Both may be used for above-ground or below-ground purposes where the terrain is fairly rock-free and unshifting.
- Uses include rain harvesting, potable water storage, industrial, septic, and agriculture/irrigation. Fiberglass tanks are also suited to more caustic storage needs such as wastewater, chemicals, food processing, and petroleum products.
- Plastic industrial tanks may be horizontal, vertical, cone-bottomed, double walled, open top, or stackable. They are popular for bulk storage, processing, and transport.
